Dilution Ratio Calculator

Car Detailing Dilution Ratio Calculator

Getting your dilution ratios right is one of the most important steps in professional car detailing. Too concentrated and you risk damaging paintwork or wasting product — too diluted and you lose cleaning power. Use our calculator below to get the exact mix every time.

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Check the dilution ratio on your product label — for example, 1:10 means 1 part product to 10 parts water.
  2. Enter the mix proportion or choose from a common ratio (e.g. 1:5, 1:10, 1:20).
  3. Enter your bottle or bucket size in millilitres (ml) or choose a common size.
  4. Read your result — the calculator shows exactly how much product and water to use.

Common Detailing Dilution Ratios

  • Car wash shampoo: 1:500–1:1000 (panel wash), 1:10–1:20 (rinseless wash) — Shop Car Wash Shampoo
  • All-purpose cleaner (APC): 1:3 (heavy duty) to 1:20 (light interior use) — Shop All Purpose Cleaners
  • Wheel cleaner: 1:3–1:10 depending on contamination level
  • Traffic film remover (TFR): 1:5–1:20
  • Glass cleaner: Ready to use or 1:3–1:5

Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the specific product you're using, as ratios vary between brands and formulations.
