DeFelsko PosiTector GLS 20/60 · Complete Kits — Standard & Advanced

Professional Gloss &
Haze Measurement.
Complete & Ready to Use.

Everything in the box — gauge body, GLS 20/60 probe, calibration tile, carry case, and NRC-traceable certificate. Choose Standard for core gloss and haze measurement, or Advanced for full WiFi, Bluetooth, and scan mode capability.

Complete kits — no extras required. Unlike the probe-only model, both the Standard (GLS2060‑1) and Advanced (GLS2060‑3) kits include the PosiTector gauge body, so you're measuring gloss and haze straight out of the box. Perfect for detailers verifying ceramic coating results, paint correction specialists documenting before-and-after readings, and body shops running panel quality checks.

Both kits measure gloss, haze (Haze Index), and % reflectance at 20° and 60° geometries, cover high-gloss to semi-gloss surfaces, and include a traceable Certificate of Calibration (NRC) for both the probe and gloss standard.

How to Take a Reading

Three steps — power on, calibrate, measure
1
Clean the Tile

Wipe the calibration tile with included cleaning wipes. A clean tile ensures accurate readings every time.

2
Power On

Base plate on probe. The GLS auto-calibrates and self-checks on every power-on — no manual steps required.

3
Measure

Remove base plate, place on a flat panel surface, press the button. Two beeps — reading displayed instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

About the PosiTector GLS 20/60 Kits
What's the difference between the Standard and Advanced kits?

Both kits include the same GLS 20/60 probe — the difference is in the gauge body. The Standard body covers all core measurement features: 60+ readings per minute, live statistics, HiLo alarm, USB export, and 1,000 reading storage. The Advanced body adds WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, continuous scan modes, live graphing, 250,000 reading storage, Differential Mode, and full PosiTector App compatibility. If you need wireless data sync or are running high-volume inspections, the Advanced kit is the right choice.

Do I need to buy anything else to start measuring?

No — both kits are complete and ready to use out of the box. The gauge body, probe, calibration tile, batteries, USB cable, carry case, and NRC-traceable certificate are all included. The probe-only version of this product requires a separately purchased gauge body, but these kit versions have everything bundled together.

What's the difference between Gloss and Haze, and why does it matter for detailing?

Gloss measures how much light reflects directly off the surface — a high reading means a mirror-like finish. Haze Index measures light scatter around that reflection, revealing surface clarity issues like micro-marring, orange peel, or the dull "milky" appearance sometimes seen after polishing. A panel can have a high gloss number but poor clarity — the Haze Index catches what the gloss number misses. For paint correction verification and ceramic coating QC, measuring both is essential.

Does this kit measure matte paint or satin finishes?

The GLS 20/60 kits cover high-gloss to semi-gloss surfaces (above 10 GU at 60°). For matte, satin, or low-gloss surfaces below 10 GU — such as matte PPF or satin wraps — you need the 85° geometry, which is available in the GLS 20/60/85 model. If you regularly work on matte finishes, that model is the better fit.

How do I use this to document paint correction results?

Take gloss and haze readings before polishing, then again after polishing (pre-coating), and finally after the ceramic coating has fully cured. This gives you three data points showing the measurable improvement at each stage — every reading is automatically date and time stamped. Download the data via USB (or WiFi on the Advanced) and generate a professional PDF report through PosiSoft Desktop. Many detailers share these reports directly with clients as objective proof of results.

Is the calibration certificate included?

Yes — a long-form Certificate of Calibration traceable to NRC is included in both kits at no extra cost, covering both the probe and the gloss standard (calibration tile). This is important if you need to provide documented proof of measurement accuracy to clients, insurers, or for any formal quality assurance process.

Can the gauge body be used with other PosiTector probes?

Yes — the PosiTector gauge body is a universal platform. It accepts any PosiTector probe, allowing you to convert between a gloss meter, coating thickness gauge, dew point meter, surface profile gauge, hardness tester, and more — just by swapping the probe. This makes it a cost-effective long-term investment for detailers and inspectors who need multiple measurement capabilities.
