The GTECHNIQ GT1 Ceramic Coating Kit is an entry-level, all-surface 12-month ceramic protection system. Designed for simple, single-layer application on paint, PPF, trim, wheels, and glass - and can even be applied outdoors in the shade without prior machine polishing.

Key Features & Specifications

  • Lifespan: Up to 12 months on paint, wheels, trim, and non-wiper glass
  • Application Surfaces: Paintwork, vinyl wraps, PPF, exterior plastics/trim, glass, and wheel faces
  • Environment: Can be applied outdoors or outside of a controlled indoor garage setup
  • Polishing Requirement: Not required - panel prep focuses on a thorough wash and chemical decontamination rather than heavy correction

Why Use GTECHNIQ GT1?

GT1 delivers trusted Gtechniq ceramic coating performance in a fast, single-layer application. The advanced ceramic formula chemically bonds to the surface, creating a durable layer of protection that resists swirl marks, delivers outstanding hydrophobic performance, and tight water beading. Dirt releases more easily, keeping surfaces cleaner for longer.

GT1 is a true all-surface coating - apply it to paintwork, PPF, trim, wheels, and glass with a single product. In the swept area of a windscreen, durability is reduced to several months due to wiper abrasion.

Application Steps

Before you begin: Park the vehicle out of direct sunlight and ensure the ambient temperature is above 5°C. Working in the right conditions will make the process smoother and help you achieve the best finish.

Step 1 - Deep Clean Your Car: Even if your car is brand new, carry out a full decontamination wash before applying any protection. This removes transport residue, fallout, and bonded contaminants. You don't need to use Gtechniq products for this stage - what matters is that the surface is completely clean and contaminant-free. Ensure the vehicle is fully dry before moving on.

Step 2 - Panel Preparation: Put on the supplied gloves and keep them on throughout. Spray Panel Wipe onto the MF1 Microfibre Buff Cloth (lighter grey) and wipe down each panel one at a time. Ensure all streaks and residue are fully removed before progressing to Step 3.

Step 3 - Apply the Coating: Apply GT1 evenly to the applicator pad - fully covered but not overloaded. Start at the top of the vehicle and work down, using smooth overlapping passes (side to side, then up and down) for even coverage.

  • Flash time: Allow the coating to sit until it shifts from a smooth film to visible beading - around 30 seconds in warm/humid conditions, up to 60 seconds in cooler/drier conditions. Watch the coating, not the clock.
  • Residue removal: Using a clean MF6 cloth (darker grey), gently remove residue with light, controlled movements - no pressure needed. Follow immediately with a second clean MF6 cloth to buff to a clear, high-gloss finish.
  • Inspection: Under good lighting (use a torch if needed), check each panel to ensure all residue is removed and the finish is even.
  • Continue: Re-prime the applicator pad as needed and work panel by panel. Once all painted surfaces are done, move on to windows, then trim, then wheels.

Step 4 - Cure: Allow the coating to cure for 7 days before washing the vehicle. This ensures full bonding and maximum durability.
